I Planned To Fail (It Started Out As A Game, And Then This Happened…)

MY CONFESSION – It started out as a game. “Let’s see if this actually works”, I say to myself.  This was after discovering the coaching industry and the coaches charging thousands of dollars to work with them.  They were helping their clients with making money online - something that I had years of experience doing for myself and a few friends, but never even THOUGHT to charge people to help them one-on-one.  But if others were doing it –  Clearly they were onto something. Right? So I figured, “what the hell, I’ll give it a shot”. I already knew how to make money online. Like I said, I’d been doing it for years. How hard could it be to simply tell others how to do the same?  Turns out –  Not so hard. IF you can get the clients, that is.  Because here’s something you won’t see on the fancy sales pages, in the emails, and on the professional 3-part video series’ –  The TRUTH that getting clients doesn’t just HAPPEN.  All these coaches make it seem to EASY to wake up to dozens of discovery calls and tens of thousands of dollars in sales every day.  But what they’re not telling you is this –  You HAVE TO put skin in the game. You have to show up and do the work every day. Even when it’s hard. Even when it feels like it’s not working.  And truthfully, many days you’ll ask yourself “what the fuck did I get myself into?”. And so many people quit, which is understandable. Because most people can’t hack it. Most people are...

In my very first year in a brand new business, in an industry where I was a complete unknown. This didn’t happen because of luck. It also didn’t happen because I worked my ass off (although I definitely did do that). It happened because I hired someone to show me how to (in her words) shorten the learning curve, so I could make money faster. Working with a coach was exhilarating. Knowing that I had someone to call on when I had a question or needed feedback (which was almost daily back then LOL) felt SO damn good. But hiring her in the first place is the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my business. Hiring a mentor was something I knew I needed to do in order to get fast results and make money quickly (I’m not one to wait around - I want results FAST), but something that really terrified me. The thought of that coaching “not working” was at the top of my mind. I was worried that it wouldn’t work for me. I was worried that no one would pay me. I was worried that I’d have to work 24/7. I was also secretly worried that it was all a big ol’ scam, like my family tried to warn me it was. I’m so fucking thankful that I trusted my gut. That I said YES to hiring a mentor, even...
